Overview

Dr. Jason Klapman is a gastroenterologist and Medical Director of Endoscopy in the Gastrointestinal Oncology Department at Moffitt Cancer Center.  He is an Senior Professor of oncology at the University of South Florida College of Medicine. Dr. Klapman received his medical degree from Finch University of Health Sciences/The Chicago Medical School.  He completed a residency in internal medicine at Rush University, Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical Center, where he was chief resident his last year. Dr. Klapman pursued additional training through a gastroenterology fellowship at the University of Chicago and an interventional endoscopy fellowship at the University of California at Irvine Medical Center. His clinical interests center around the diagnosis, staging and treatment of gastrointestinal malignancies with a focus on pancreatic cancer using advanced endoscopic procedures such as endoscopic ultrasound and ERCP. He is a nationally recognized gastroenterologist and researcher and has been invited faculty or course director for multiple educational and hands-on courses around the country focusing on education and training in gastroenterological procedures. Dr. Klapman performs clinical endoscopic research focusing on improving the diagnosis and treatment of a multitude of precancerous and cancerous gastrointestinal conditions. Dr. Klapman along with four of his colleagues from around the country have formed a research collaborative group called Mucin (mucingroup.com) whose purpose is to perform multicenter trials with this gastrointestinal endoscopy focus. This group has already generated multiple publications and research presentations at national meetings. Dr. Klapman’s research interests include early detection and screening of pancreatic cancer in high-risk individuals. He currently has an ongoing clinical trial enrolling patients at high-risk. He is also currently enrolling patients to compare two types of needles that place gold markers which are used to guide radiation in patients with pancreas cancer. Dr. Klapman is widely published, including peer-reviewed journals, book chapters and educational DVDs.

We post both positive and negative comments from the surveys. We do not post comments that are libelous, slanderous, profane, irrelevant or otherwise inappropriate or may risk the privacy of our patients. A “[…]” in the comments below indicates de-identified patient information or comments that are unrelated to the patient’s experience with the visit to the provider, such as comments related to another provider, about the survey itself, or otherwise completely off-topic.

Not all providers will have a star rating or comments. In order to ensure accuracy of our ratings, we only display ratings for providers who have a minimum of 30 completed from the previous 12 months.

Provider Ratings and comments are gathered from our nationally-recognized Press Ganey Patient Satisfaction Survey. If a provider does not have ratings or comments listed it can be for several reasons, including:

  • The provider has not yet received the minimum number of patient satisfaction surveys to be eligible for display. We require a minimum of 30 surveys before we post results to ensure that the rating is statistically reliable and a true reflection of patient satisfaction.
  • He or she may be a researcher or other type of provider that does not see patients.
  • The provider practices in a specialty or office that does not use the specified surveys currently used for these ratings.
